Miss Rahffiq

I am very lucky to be teaching Class 1 this year alongside Miss Fox and Miss Archer. I am a newly qualified teacher and have completed a degree in Child Psychology. I have previously worked as a teaching assistant and nursery practitioner in multiple schools. On a personal note I am a very creative person. I have multiple hobbies from painting, crocheting and reading, all activities where I can creatively express myself. I have a big family and a lovely cat called Neelah. My favourite subjects are Art and English. I am most looking forward to all the fun experiences we will have in Year 1.

Miss Fox and Miss Archer

We are very lucky to have both Miss Fox and Miss Archer with us in Class 1 this year. Miss Fox has worked at St. Andrews for a year and a half in various year groups. She likes spending time with her family and being creative. Her favourite subject is History and she is looking forward to learning all about different historical events. Miss Archer, who has worked at St Andrew's for 12 years, has previously worked in different year groups. Her favourite lesson is Art where she is looking forward to exploring new artists.

Topics

The topics we will be covering this year are:

  • Autumn 1 – Toys through time
  • Autumn 2 – The United Kingdom
  • Spring 1 – Crime and Punishment in our local area
  • Spring 2 – My Oswaldtwistle
  • Summer 1- Elizabeth I and Elizabeth II
  • Summer 2- Bethany children

Homework

Children will be set reading and phonics homework weekly. The homework will relate to the phonic sounds we have been doing in class that week or in the upcoming week. Homework will be set on a Friday and children can receive £5 (school money) for reading their Little Wandle books.

Key Dates to Remember

Your child’s PE lessons will take place on a Monday and Friday meaning children need to bring in their PE kits. Full PE kit is expected during lessons with pumps that fit in case we decide to work outside and no jewellery is to be worn on this day.

At St Andrew’s we have an open door policy. If you have anything that you would like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to come into school and speak to us. I will also be available on Dojo.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to the year ahead.
