Teaching Assistant
Mrs Ainsworth
I came to St Andrew’s primary school in 2009 working as a HLTA. I have been fortunate enough to work in each year group throughout the school, both supporting as a teaching assistant and as a class teacher. Whilst working at St Andrew’s, I studied for my degree in Early Childhood studies and gained Qualified Teacher Status in 2017. In addition to my teaching role, I assist Mrs Wilkinson and Miss Fox with our fantastic school choir, which feeds into my own passion of music and singing. My favourite subjects are Music and Science.
Miss Flood
We are very fortunate in Class 2 to have Miss Flood, who has worked as a teaching assistant at Andrew’s for the past 10 years. She enjoys spending time with her family and going on holiday. Her favourite subjects are Geography and History and she is especially looking forward to exploring our exciting new topics this year- all Crime and Punishment and The Bethany Children.
Topics
The topics we will be covering this year are:
Autumn 1 – Toys Through Time
Autumn 2 – The United Kingdom
Spring 1 – Crime and punishment in our local area.
Spring 2 – My Oswaldtwistle.
Summer 1- Elizabeth I and Elizabeth II
Summer 2- Bethany Children
Homework
Children in KS1 bring home a Little Wandle Reading book each week and will have weekly spellings set on ED Shed. They also have access to TTRockstars to practise the timestables that have been set for them.
Key dates to remember
Your child’s PE lessons will take place on a Wednesday and Friday meaning children need to make sure their PE kits are in school. Full PE kit is expected during lessons with pumps, not trainers please.
In Year 2 we have an open door policy. If you have anything that you would like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to come into school and speak to us. We are also available on Class Dojo.
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to the year ahead.
