Welcome to Year 4a
Our Team
Mrs Charlton
Welcome to Year 4a! My name is Mrs Charlton and I have worked at St Andrews for one year, though this is my 5th year as a teacher . I love nothing more than a good book, a cup of tea and curling up on the sofa. I also love animals and like to go horse riding and spending time out in nature when the weather is nice! I love maths, working with different numbers and I am very competitive with times tables!
Miss Flood
We are very fortunate in Class 4a to have Miss Flood, who has worked as a teaching assistant at Andrew’s for the past 11 years. She enjoys spending time with her family and going on holiday. Her favourite subjects are Geography and History.
Topics
The topics we will be covering this year are:
Autumn 1 – Ancient civilisations
Autumn 2 – How would you survive in a desert?
Spring 1 – Stone Age
Spring 2 – How does the Lake District benefit from tourism?
Summer 1- Romans
Summer 2- How does the Lake District compare to Catalonia?
Homework
Children will be set English, Maths and/or Topic homework weekly. The homework will relate to the work we have been doing in class that week or the work we will be doing in the upcoming week. Homework will be set on a Friday and children can receive £3 (School money) if they bring it back on Monday, £2 Tuesday and £1 Wednesday. Homework club for help and support will be on Tuesday break time.
Key dates to remember
Your child’s PE lessons will take place on a Thursday and Friday. Full PE kit is expected during lessons with black pumps that fit in case we decide to work outside and no jewellery is to be worn on this day.
In Year 4A we have an open door policy. If you have anything that you would like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to come into school and speak to us. I will also be available on Dojo.
Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to the year ahead.
