Welcome to Year 4a
Our Team

Mr Dearn
Class Teacher
Mr Dearn
I have worked across both key stages during my teaching career and also completed a degree in Sports Coaching and Development. I have always had a strong interest in sport and fitness and have played and coached a variety of sports throughout my life. At the weekends I still enjoy playing football, and when I am not playing I like to go running or spend time in the gym.
My favourite subjects to teach are P.E. and Maths, as I enjoy helping children develop both their confidence and problem-solving skills. This year, I am particularly looking forward to teaching our Earthquakes and Volcanoes topic in Class 4A.
Topics
The topics we will be covering this year are:
Autumn 1 – Titanic
Autumn 2 – Settlements
Spring 1 – Learie Constantine
Spring 2 – Earthquakes and volcanoes
Summer 1- Mayan and religion beliefs
Summer 2- Investigating rivers in our fieldwork
Homework
Children will be set English, Maths and/or Topic homework weekly. The homework will relate to the work we have been doing in class that week or the work we will be doing in the upcoming week. Homework will be set on a Friday and children can receive £3 (School money) if they bring it back on Monday, £2 Tuesday and £1 Wednesday. Homework club for help and support will be on Monday break time.
Key dates to remember
Your child’s PE lessons will take place on a Monday and Friday meaning children need to bring in their PE kits every Monday or be left in school. Full PE kit is expected during lessons with pumps that fit in case we decide to work outside and no jewellery is to be worn on this day.
In Year 4A we have an open door policy. If you have anything that you would like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to come into school and speak to us. I will also be available on Dojo.
Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to the year ahead.
